Geeti meaning
Geeti (गीति) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, गी, it is a Makar rashi name (Dhanishta nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Song, singing; also the name of a metre
Geeti (गीति) is Sanskrit gīti, "song" or "singing", from the same verb, gai, "to sing", that gives Geeta and Geet. Monier-Williams also records gīti as the name of a Sanskrit metre, a verse of four lines that alternate between shorter and longer measures. Name lists give Geeti as "song", matching the dictionary. The name is used across India, and in Bengal it is often written Giti.
