Hamda meaning
Hamda (حمدہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Praise; a single act of praising (from ḥamd)
Also used to mean: praiseworthy
Hamda (حمدہ) comes from Arabic ḥamd, "praise", from the root ḥ-m-d. Lane's lexicon defines ḥamd as praise, eulogy or commendation, and discusses at length the phrase al-ḥamdu lillāh, "praise be to God", which opens the Quran. Hamda is the form with the feminine ending, which in Arabic can also mark a single act of praising. Name lists give "praise" or "praiseworthy". The name shares its root with Hameeda, Ahmad and Muhammad, and is used in the Gulf countries as well as in India.
