Jahangir meaning
Jahangir (جہانگیر) is a Muslim boy's name of Persian origin (Urdu usage).
World-conqueror, one who seizes the world
Also used to mean: conqueror of the world
Jahangir (جہانگیر) is a Persian compound of jahān, "world", and gīr, from giriftan, "to seize, hold". Steingass's Persian dictionary defines jahān-gīr as conqueror of the world, and notes that it was the throne name taken by the Mughal prince Salim when he became emperor in 1605. Emperor Jahangir, son of Akbar, is remembered for his memoirs, his love of painting and his chain of justice. Name lists give "conqueror of the world", which matches. The name is used by Muslim families, and among Parsis as well.
