Zafar meaning
Zafar (ظفر) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Victory, success; gaining the mastery over an enemy
Zafar (ظفر) is the Arabic ẓafar, from the root ẓ-f-r. Lane explains the verb as winning or gaining the victory, gaining the mastery over an enemy and overcoming him, and gives a causative form for God or a man granting someone victory. Ẓafar is the noun: victory, success. The same root gives Muẓaffar, "made victorious", another name. Name lists give Zafar as "victory" or "triumph", matching the dictionary. In India the name is linked above all with Bahādur Shāh Ẓafar, the last Mughal emperor, who wrote Urdu poetry under the pen name Ẓafar and died in exile in Rangoon in 1862.
