Joachim meaning
Joachim is a Christian boy's name of Hebrew origin.
Jehovah will raise (Hebrew Yehoyaqim)
Also used to mean: established by God, raised by God
Joachim renders the Hebrew Yehoyaqim, better known in English Bibles as Jehoiakim. Strong's Concordance (H3079) builds it from the divine name and quwm, "to rise", and explains it as "Jehovah will raise"; Brown-Driver-Briggs gives "Jah raises up". In the Old Testament it is the name of a king of Judah and of a priest. Christians honour Saint Joachim, whom ancient tradition names as the husband of Saint Anne and father of the Virgin Mary; their shared feast is kept on 26 July. Goan and Mangalorean families also use the Portuguese form Joaquim.
