Lokendra meaning
Lokendra (लोकेन्द्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, लो, it is a Mesh rashi name (Bharani nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Chief of the world, from loka 'world' and indra 'chief'
Also used to mean: king of the world
Lokendra (लोकेन्द्र) joins Sanskrit loka, "the world, people", and indra, the name of the king of the gods, which at the end of a compound means "the best" or "the chief". Together they give "chief of the world" or "lord of the people", and name lists render it as "king of the world", the same idea as Lokesh. Monier-Williams records lokendra itself only as the name of a Buddha in a Buddhist text, so the everyday sense comes from its two parts. The name is used across North India, where it is also spelled Lokender.
