Malar meaning
Malar (மலர்) is a Tamil girl's name.
Full-blown flower, blossom; also the lotus
Malar (மலர்) is the Tamil word for a flower in full bloom, from the verb malar-, to blossom or open out. The Tamil Lexicon of the University of Madras lists a full-blown flower and the lotus among its senses. Name lists give Malar simply as "flower", sometimes "lotus", which matches the dictionary. The word is a building block of Tamil names: Malarvizhi joins it with vizhi, "eye", for a girl with flower-like eyes, and Thenmalar with then, "honey", for a honey-sweet flower. On its own, Malar is a short, pure-Tamil girls' name that sounds the same in Tamil and English.
