Mandar meaning
Mandar (मंदार) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Marathi usage).
The coral tree, one of the five trees of paradise; heaven
Also used to mean: tree of heaven
Mandar (मंदार) is Sanskrit mandāra, the Indian coral tree with its bright red flowers. Monier-Williams notes that it is counted among the five trees of paradise, and also gives the white calotropis, heaven itself, and the names of a mountain and a sacred hermitage on the Ganges. Name lists give "coral tree" or "tree of heaven", which matches the dictionary; some also call it a name of Ganesha, which the dictionary does not record. It should not be confused with Mandara, the mountain used to churn the ocean, which has a short vowel. The name is used mainly in Maharashtra.
