Nooruddin meaning
Nooruddin (نورالدین) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Light of the faith (nūr + al-dīn)
Also used to mean: light of religion
Nooruddin (نورالدین) joins Arabic nūr, "light", with al-dīn, "of the faith". Lane's lexicon defines nūr as light of every kind, the opposite of darkness, and notes its use in the Quran for the light of reason and of revelation; dīn is obedience and religion. The name means "light of the faith", which is also how name lists give it. Famous bearers include the Mughal emperor Jahangir, whose personal name was Nur-ud-din Muhammad Salim, and Sheikh Nooruddin Noorani, the 15th-century Kashmiri saint also called Nund Rishi, whose shrine stands at Charar-e-Sharif.
