Puran meaning
Puran (पूरन) is a Hindu boy's name of Hindi origin (from Sanskrit). By its first sound, पू, it is a Kanya rashi name (Hasta nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Full, complete, fulfilled (Hindi form of Sanskrit pūrṇa)
Puran (पूरन) is the everyday Hindi form of Sanskrit pūrṇa, "filled, full, complete, entire", and also "fulfilled, accomplished". Platts records the related Hindi verb pūrnā, "to fill, to complete", and derives it from the same word. Name lists give Puran as "complete". Some also say "ancient", but that belongs to purāṇa, the word behind the Purāṇas, which is spelt and pronounced differently. Puran is a traditional name in North India, often in forms like Puran Chand, and appears in the Punjabi legend of the prince-saint Puran Bhagat.
