Sajida meaning
Sajida (ساجدہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
One who bows down in humility; one who prostrates herself in prayer
Also used to mean: one who prostrates to God, devout
Sajida (ساجدہ) is the feminine of Arabic sājid, from sajada, "to bow down, to prostrate oneself". Lane's lexicon gives sājid as lowly, humble or submissive, bending towards the ground, and hence prostrating oneself in prayer with the forehead on the ground. The same root gives sajda, the prostration of prayer, and masjid, a mosque, literally a place of prostration. Name lists give Sajida as "one who prostrates" or "devout worshipper", which matches the dictionary. The masculine Sajid and the intensive Sajjad are related names.
