Satish (सतीश) is not itself a dictionary entry, but its form is clear: Sanskrit satī joined to īśa, "lord". Monier-Williams gives satī as a good or faithful wife and as a name of the goddess Umā or Durgā, Śiva's wife, and īśa as lord or master, itself a name of Śiva; so Satīśa is "lord of Satī", that is, Śiva. Name lists usually say "lord of truth", reading sat, "true", plus īśa, but that combination would give sadīśa in Sanskrit, so the popular meaning looks like a modern interpretation. Satish Dhawan led India's space programme.
