Venkat meaning
Venkat (वेंकट) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Telugu usage). By its first sound, वे, it is a Vrishabh rashi name (Mrigashira nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
A sacred hill near Tirupati, home of Lord Venkateswara
Venkat (వెంకట్) is taken from Veṅkaṭa, the sacred hill at Tirumala above Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh. Monier-Williams describes it as a very sacred hill whose summit temple honours Vishnu as the Lord of Veṅkaṭa, visited by thousands of pilgrims every year, and notes that the name was also borne by a king of Vijayanagara and by several scholars. Most families use Venkat as a short form of Venkatesh, Venkateswara or Venkataramana, names of Vishnu as the lord of the hill, so name lists give its meaning as Lord Venkateswara. It is a boys' name used in Telugu and Kannada families.
