Shailendra meaning
Shailendra (शैलेन्द्र) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin.
Chief or lord of mountains, especially the Himālaya
Also used to mean: king of mountains
Shailendra (शैलेन्द्र) joins Sanskrit śaila, "mountain", and indra, "chief". Monier-Williams gives it as the chief or lord of mountains, especially the Himālaya, citing the Rāmāyaṇa and the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa. Some name lists add Shiva, lord of Mount Kailāsa, which is a devotional reading rather than a dictionary sense. The Śailendra dynasty of Java, builders of Borobudur, carried the same name, and Shailendra was the pen name of the celebrated Hindi film lyricist born Shankardas Kesarilal.
