Srivalli (श्रीवल्ली) joins śrī, "beauty, fortune", with vallī, "a creeper". Monier-Williams records śrīvallī as the name of two plants, a kind of jasmine and the shrub Acacia concinna (shikakai). Name lists usually give "prosperity" or "wealth", which comes from the śrī part rather than from any dictionary sense of the whole word. In Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh the name also recalls Valli, the consort of Murugan. It is also the name of the heroine Srivalli in the 2021 Telugu film Pushpa: The Rise.
