Sridevi meaning
Sridevi (श्रीदेवी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The goddess Śrī, i.e. Lakshmi: śrī + devī, goddess
Sridevi (श्रीदेवी) joins two Sanskrit words. Monier-Williams gives śrī as "light, lustre, beauty" and "prosperity, good fortune, wealth", and as a name of Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity and wife of Vishnu; devī means "goddess" or "queen". Together they name Lakshmi herself, and in South Indian temples Sridevi and Bhudevi stand on either side of Vishnu. Name lists agree on "goddess Lakshmi". The name is best known through Sridevi, the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu film star.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Lakshmi.
