Sumangala meaning
Sumangala (सुमंगला) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
Bringing good fortune, very auspicious
Sumangala (सुमंगला) joins su-, "very", with maṅgala, "auspiciousness, good fortune". Monier-Williams gives sumaṅgala as "bringing good fortune, very auspicious", a sense found from the Rigveda on, and also "well-conducted". Sumangala is recorded as one of the divine Mothers who attend Skanda in the Mahabharata, as an Apsaras and as a river. Name lists give "one who makes everything good" or "very auspicious", which matches. It should not be confused with sumangali, a married woman whose husband is living.
