Charan meaning
Charan (चरण) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Telugu usage).
A foot; the venerable feet (of someone); a support
Charan (చరణ్) is Sanskrit caraṇa, "a foot", from the root car, "to move". Monier-Williams notes that the plural is used respectfully for a venerable person, much as one speaks of sitting at someone's feet, and that the word can also mean a pillar or support. In devotional language the feet of a deity are the place of refuge, so names such as Ram Charan or Hari Charan mean one devoted to the feet of Rama or Vishnu. In music caraṇa is also a section of a Carnatic composition. Charan is a Telugu boys' name; a well-known bearer is the actor Ram Charan.
