Gauri meaning
Gauri (गौरी) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
White, brilliant; the 'brilliant goddess', Shiva's wife Parvati
Gauri (गौरी) is the feminine of Sanskrit gaura, "white, shining, brilliant". Monier-Williams lists a wide range of senses for gaurī, from the earth, turmeric and red chalk to a rāgiṇī in music and several metres, but the best known is Pārvatī, the wife of Śiva, as the "brilliant goddess". The dictionary also gives Gaurī as the wife of Varuṇa in the Mahābhārata, as one of the goddesses of knowledge (Vidyādevī), as a name for the mother of the Buddha, and as the name of several rivers. Baby-name lists translate Gauri as "fair", "white" or "radiant" and link it to Pārvatī, which matches the dictionary.
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Parvati.
