Pranita (प्रणीता) comes from Sanskrit pra-nī, "to lead forward". Monier-Williams gives praṇīta as led forward, brought or offered, especially to the sacred fire, and also performed, established or taught; the feminine praṇītā is a vessel used in Vedic ritual, the holy water fetched for the rite, and the name of a river. On name lists Pranita is usually "beloved", "devoted" or "respected". Those senses are not in the dictionary, so they appear to have grown up around the name, though "led" or "guided", also seen online, is close to the original.
