Rafiq meaning
Rafiq (رفیق) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
A companion or friend; gentle, kind, courteous
Rafiq (رفیق) is the Arabic rafīq, from the root r-f-q, which has to do with gentleness and kindly treatment. Lane's lexicon gives two main senses: gentle, gracious and courteous, and a companion, especially a companion on a journey and afterwards. The Quran, speaking of the prophets, the truthful, the martyrs and the righteous, says "excellent are they as companions" (4:69). Name lists give Rafiq as "friend" or "companion", and sometimes "gentle", all from the dictionary. The Swahili rafiki, "friend", comes from the same word. Rafiq Zakaria, the Indian politician and writer on Islam, bore the name.
