Tahira meaning
Tahira (طاہرہ) is a Muslim girl's name of Arabic origin.
Clean, pure; free from vices
Also used to mean: chaste, virtuous
Tahira (طاہرہ) is the feminine of Arabic ṭāhir, from the root ṭ-h-r, "to be clean, pure". Lane's Lexicon glosses ṭāhir as clean, free from dirt or filth, or pure, and says that of a woman it means pure from vices. Name lists today give "pure", "chaste" or "virtuous"; Lane's entry does not use the word "chaste", but "virtuous" stays close to "pure from vices". The masculine form is Tahir. In 19th-century Iran the poet and Bābī leader Fāṭima Baraghānī was given the title Ṭāhirih, "the Pure One", the Persian form of the same word, and she is still remembered by it.
