Vasantha meaning
Vasantha (वसंता) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin (Telugu, Kannada and Tamil usage).
Spring, the brilliant season
Vasantha (वसंता; Telugu వసంత, Kannada ವಸಂತಾ, Tamil வசந்தா) is the Sanskrit vasanta, the spring season. Monier-Williams glosses it as "the brilliant season" and places it from about mid-March to May; in poetry spring is often personified as a friend or attendant of Kāmadeva, the god of love. In Sanskrit the word is masculine, and North India uses Vasant or Basant for boys, but in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu Vasantha is a girls' name. Name lists give it simply as "spring", matching the dictionary. Vasantha is also the name of a raga in Carnatic music. Bearers include the 1940s Tamil film actress K. L. V. Vasantha and the playback singer B. Vasantha. In Karnataka the name is sometimes given to men as well.
