Jalil meaning
Jalil (جلیل) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin (Urdu usage).
Great in rank, dignity or size; exalted; al-Jalil, God the Majestic
Jalil (جلیل) is Arabic jalīl, from the root j-l-l, "to be great", the same root as Jalal. Lane's lexicon defines it as great in size, in rank or in dignity, and also as old and full of years; he notes that al-Jalīl, "the Majestic", is said of God because of His great works. In Urdu jalīl describes something grand or eminent, as in jalīl-ul-qadr, "of exalted rank". Name lists give "great", "exalted" or "majestic", which matches. Indian families also spell it Jaleel, and it appears in Abdul Jalil.
