Ritoban meaning
Ritoban (ऋतवान) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin (Bengali usage).
True to sacred order; pious, truthful, faithful, holy
Ritoban (ऋतवान, Bengali ঋতবান) is built on Sanskrit ṛta, one of the oldest ideas in the Vedas. Monier-Williams gives ṛta as fixed or settled order, sacred law and divine truth, and more generally truth and righteousness. Adding the ending -vān, "having", gives a sense close to the Vedic word ṛtāvan, which the dictionary explains as keeping to the fixed order, and as pious, true, faithful and holy; the Rigveda uses it of gods and of worshippers. Ritoban is a newer name in Bengal, also spelt Ritaban. The Bengali form itself is not a dictionary headword.
