Durga meaning
Durga (दुर्गा) is a Hindu girl's name of Sanskrit origin.
The goddess Durga, 'the inaccessible one'
Also used to mean: invincible
Durga (दुर्गा) is the feminine of Sanskrit durga, "difficult of access, impassable, unattainable", formed from dur-, "hard", and the root gam, "to go". Monier-Williams glosses the goddess's name as "the inaccessible or terrific goddess": the daughter of Himavat and wife of Śiva, also called Umā and Pārvatī, and mother of Kārttikeya and Gaṇeśa. Her great myth, told in the Devī Māhātmya of the Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa, is her victory over the buffalo demon Mahiṣāsura, which is celebrated at Durgā Pūjā and Navarātri. Baby-name lists usually translate the name as "invincible". That is a fair rendering of a goddess no enemy can reach, though the dictionary's literal sense is "hard to approach".
In Hindu tradition this is a name of Durga.
