Ramanand meaning
Ramanand (रामानन्द) is a Hindu boy's name of Sanskrit origin. By its first sound, रा, it is a Tula rashi name (Chitra nakshatra) in the North Indian table.
Joy of Rāma (rāma + ānanda); name of the medieval Vaiṣṇava teacher
Also used to mean: joy of rama, bliss of rama
Ramanand (रामानन्द) joins Rāma with ānanda, "happiness, joy, bliss", the word Vedānta uses for the pure bliss of Brahman. It reads "the joy of Rāma" or "one who delights in Rāma". Monier-Williams records rāmānanda as the name of the teacher, in the line of Rāmānuja, who founded his own branch of the sect; the saint Ramananda of Varanasi is remembered as the guru of a wide circle of bhakti poets. A modern bearer is Ramanand Sagar, who made the Ramayan television series.
