Hasan meaning
Hasan (حسن) is a Muslim boy's name of Arabic origin.
Good, goodly; having ḥusn, goodness or beauty
Hasan (حسن) is the Arabic ḥasan, from the root ḥ-s-n. Lane defines it as having ḥusn, "goodness or goodliness", a word that covers both goodness of character and beauty of form. He also records a rarer sense, "a high hill of sand", from which, his source says, the boy's name was taken. The adjective occurs in the Quran at 3:37, where Maryam is said to have been raised in a good way. Name lists today give Hasan as "good" or "handsome", in line with the dictionary. Its first great bearer is al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī, the Prophet's grandson, who succeeded his father ʿAlī and in 661 handed the caliphate to Muʿāwiyah after peace talks. Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣrī (642–728) was a revered early preacher and ascetic.
